Grammar and blogging
Some good points were made by those commenting on the previous post. To summarize,:
-people are pretty skilled at recognizing words and ideas despite many typing errors or abbreviations.
-people tend to estimate the education level and the credibility of people based on their skill in communicating
-the amount of attention one should pay to clear writing is related to its purpose (if ur poring out ur heart on ur own personal blog (we can discuss the pros and cons of that decision-making another time), then maybe u let ur emoshuns flow and grammr be damd. Maybe it’s poetry. However, if you’re submitting assignments for a course, applying for a job, emailing your grandmother, then hopefully you recognize the value in being able to switch register (register – wikipedia definition; follow the link and scroll down to view the “formality scale”)
