IP30 Mon Feb 26 – Yearbook Page Layout Assignments
I hope you had a fantastic weekend.
Good News: I just found out that I need to get report card marks in before March 23, at which point we will be halfway done the second semester! Payday is coming soon as your reward for keeping your daily log sheets up to date, keeping track of the assignments, and all that good stuff.
Bad News: See Mr. Stinson today if you have assignments to complete besides the yearbook page layout. Remember, you won’t be fired for incomplete work. It is worse. In most careers, you get paid your full salary even if you do a poor job, until the day you are dismissed. IP30, you don’t get paid until the end of the year, and if it doesn’t exceed 50%, it doesn’t count for anything. Yikes.
More Bad News: Actually, the biggest problem I have with marks at the moment is that I have been giving too many opportunities for bonus marks, or at least more people are taking these than I predicted. Stop it! Not everyone can get high marks. It doesn’t look good, right? What if I lose my job?
Finally: Today, let’s organize the layouts for the yearbook project so we know who is responsible for which pages. Then, those of you who are experienced with the software can begin, or better yet, help those that are new to the program.
Oh, I almost forgot. I never had the chance to speak to David Suzuki, but I was close enough that I might have caught his cold when we sneezed during his presentation. I told the organizers after that I had some students think about what they would do about the environment if they were PM, and they gave me something to give you. If you were one of those who managed to get me an email or give me a printout of your ideas last week, I have something for you.
