IP30 – March 22: Looking good…

Hmm. It’s looking like most (if not all) of you are going to pass this first term. You will find out next week.

I have appreciated the effort to try things that are maybe a bit different, like using a blog and a wiki, interviewing people and attending community meetings and cleaning inside computers. Don’t tell anyone, but I thought IP30 would be boring compared to CPT. And I guess, it might have been. By the way, I made the cheesecake and the chicken wings, and they were both delicious. I had to eat them myself though, since I have been working late for the past few days at the school on planning and report cards… sigh…

This second half of the course will build on the first half, including some follow-up. First, the manager interviews. Everyone should have interviewed someone by now. The results have been posted on the IP30 wiki by you. If you had trouble doing this, ask the instructor or a classmate on how to do this so it is ready for the afternoon assignment.

FOR THIS PERIOD:

For today and part of tomorrow, we are going to focus on the research task introduced in the previous blog posting to learn more about the internal workings of the computer. Some of you have begun this already, and are making good use of websites such as howstuffworks.com and wikipedia as resources.

Also, please choose a second double page yearbook layout to work on and confirm with Mr. Stinson. I have submitted the first 16 pages, and would like to submit the next 16 pages before the weekend, so if you haven’t finished your layout and it is within pages 17-32, please make this a top priority.

Bring your recipes to school this week (and some samples, people!) Recipes handed in before Friday at noon to Mrs. Killoh will count toward course credit, as long as you can also tell me what stage of the information processing this represents.
