If you are not done marking errors on the back of recipes, you may want to check out the list of common errors in the earlier post. Also, thank you for your feedback on the first session. There were both positive comments and some not so enthusiastic. I think it is safe to say that if you can find value in a task, the task will be more rewarding. In the future, I will ask the following questions of students before the task, but this time, I will ask them… now. Please type up your response in Word, and email a copy to me.

Title: Recipe Proofreading Activity

-What skills are needed for proofreading?
-What skills do you have that are useful for proofreading?
-What skills did you use while proofreading?
-What did you find the most difficult?
-What is something you learned from the activity?
-What stage of the information cycle is represented by this activity?

If you are done going through your portion of the recipes and making notes on the back, finish up the proofing task by making the corrections clearly on the actual recipe. White-out will be provided as available. If you have time, you can receive extra credit by checking over additional recipes, especially if you find any errors missed by 2 other proofers.

Final question, to post as a comment: Out of the recipes you proofed, which one would you most like to try, if the opportunity arose?

Actually, my title is poorly chosen, as the items I am thinking of are not bugs, but mainly me getting used to the program that is used in making this blog. It is coming along though, and if I learn 1 new thing each time, then I think I am doing pretty well. Today I learned that you can edit the posts that people leave you. I wasn’t sure how this could be useful, but decided to try it out with the help of a comment posted by Joel to my post “Let the Blogging Begin”. If you check out the comments to that post, you will see that one post was submitted twice. I tried the editing tool on the second one in an effort to address the issue of accurate typing, even for blogs.

My question to you is, does spelling and grammar matter when blogging or commenting on a blog? Why or why not?

It has only been a few days, and I haven’t progressed very far in making advanced used of blogs. I haven’t even figured out how to put one of those neat little maps on the site that show where site visitors are from. However, I am going to put this site to work whether it is ready or not.

The following question is for my Semester 2 IP30 students; although since this is a blog and I haven’t put in any restrictions, it is therefore actually open to anyone in the world who happens upon this page.

Do you think that blogging in this course could be educational? How?
