1. An interview with someone in a managerial role. Type up your results and save as a file, then put a copy of your results on the IP30 wiki.

2. Arrangements made to attend a meeting, take notes, and find out information about roles and how the meeting was organized. Remember to request a copy of the actual minutes record as well (for an upcoming activity): see the instructor if you do not have not made arrangements to attend one yet!

3. Clean one computer each (groups clean one per person in the group).

4. One Yearbook Page layout. Make sure you have proofread it carefully and had others look it over too.

5. Your notes/poster on cleaning computer components (print a copy for your portfolio)

Assignments Due before the February Break

1. Appraisal forms. Print out a copy of your blank form, and fill it in for yourself based on your performance in the course so far.

2. Type up the results of your interview with a manager and compile the esults in a table with the rest of the class.

3. Identify a meeting to make arrangements to attend to observe how a meeting is conducted (including he taking of minutes during a meeting).

Work Habits and Attitudes

Create an appraisal form for the course. Use information from this rating scale (pdf) along with example appraisal forms you find from searching online. Your appraisal form will be rated on organization/usefulness and completeness (how many relevant work habits and attitudes are covered).

Final Note: Notice that this is focusing on habits and attitudes, not technical skills. Extra credit will be given to students who create a separate additional section that assesses these skills.

Manager Interviews

Make sure to arrange to conduct your interview by Thursday February 8, so you can type up the results on Friday. If you have a partner, find a way to include both of you in the interview process. Next week, I might attempt to have you post your results to a wiki…

DO NOT skip the step of searching for information on how to conduct an interview. The information will help, and you will get credit for having a summary in your portfolio.

Information Processing Cycle

Using the scenario and instructions provided here, create a chart to show how the information processing cycle would apply. Make sure to keep a copy of this (and all other assignments) in your portfolio.
